Zaya Akins, a junior at Raytown South High in Missouri, and fellow 11th-grader Kaylyn Brown of Mallard Creek High in North Carolina, placed second and third in the women's 400-meter final at the USATF U20 Championships at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore. Akins, the New Balance Nationals 400 winner, clocked 52.90 seconds and Brown took third in 53.11.
